Overview

The EcoFlow WAVE 3 Add-On Battery is the plug-in battery for the EcoFlow WAVE 3 Portable Air Conditioner, built for tents, campervans, boats and baches where there is no wall socket to run from. It stores 1024Wh in LFP cells. EcoFlow rates it at up to 8 hours of cordless running in Eco Mode under optimal conditions, enough to carry the WAVE 3 through a night.

Recharging is flexible. The battery takes up to 400W of solar or up to 200W from a vehicle outlet through its XT60i port, and it charges from the wall through the WAVE 3. On the road it charges from an EcoFlow 500W or 800W Alternator Charger. A 140W USB-C port and an 18W USB-A port run laptops and phones from the same battery. The WAVE 3 sits on top of the battery, locks in with a click and connects with the cable in the box. If you are unsure how it fits your setup, we're happy to help before you buy.

Up to 8 Hours of Cordless Running

The battery stores 1024Wh, and EcoFlow rates it at 2 to 8 hours of running with the WAVE 3, depending on the mode. The 8-hour figure applies in Eco Mode under optimal conditions. That covers a night in a tent or a campervan with no generator and no powered site.

Run time varies with the mode, the temperature you set and the conditions around the unit.

Four Ways to Recharge

Solar panels charge the battery at up to 400W through the XT60i port, which accepts 11V to 60V at up to 13A. The same port takes up to 200W from a 12V or 24V vehicle outlet, using the car charging cable in the box. Wall power reaches the battery through the WAVE 3 when the two are connected. An EcoFlow Alternator Charger charges it from the vehicle while you drive.

The battery accepts up to 1000W in total, so you can pick the source that suits where you are parked.

LFP Cells Rated for 4000 Cycles

The cells are lithium iron phosphate, rated to keep 80% or more of their capacity after 4000 cycles. EcoFlow puts that at up to 10 years of daily use. The case is rated IP65.

EcoFlow advises against immersing the battery or leaving it wet, and recommends a waterproof bag in rainy conditions or near water.

140W USB-C and 18W USB-A Built In

The battery has its own USB-C and USB-A ports for laptops, phones and cameras. The USB-C port delivers up to 140W and supports PD 3.1 and QC 3.0. The USB-A port delivers up to 18W and supports QC 3.0. Both switch on with the battery, whether or not the WAVE 3 is attached.

Clicks On Without Tools

Line the WAVE 3 up with the alignment mark on top of the battery, set it down and push it forward until it clicks. Plug in the Add-On Battery Cable and the two are joined. Holding the power button on either unit switches both on. To separate them, switch off, unplug the cable, press the unlock button and slide the WAVE 3 back.

Pairs Well With

The WAVE 3 Add-On Battery is designed to power the EcoFlow WAVE 3 Portable Air Conditioner, giving it 2 to 8 hours of cordless running. For charging on the road, the EcoFlow 500W Alternator Charger connects to the battery's XT60i port through an XT60 output cable. The EcoFlow 800W Alternator Charger connects to the XT150 extra battery port through an XT150 output cable and supports charging in both directions with the vehicle battery. For solar charging, the EcoFlow MC4 to XT60i Solar Cable connects MC4 solar panels to the same XT60i port. If you want us to confirm the fit for your vehicle or panels before you order, just ask.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which air conditioner does this battery fit?

It is designed to power the EcoFlow WAVE 3 Portable Air Conditioner. The WAVE 3 sits on top of the battery and locks in place with a click, then the Add-On Battery Cable from the box joins the two. No tools are needed.

How long does it run the WAVE 3?

EcoFlow rates the battery at 2 to 8 hours of running, depending on the mode. The 8-hour figure is for Eco Mode under optimal conditions. Run time drops in the higher cooling and heating modes and in hotter or colder surroundings.

How do I recharge it?

There are four ways. Solar panels deliver up to 400W through the XT60i port. A vehicle outlet delivers up to 200W through the same port, using the car charging cable in the box. Wall power reaches the battery through the WAVE 3 when the two are connected and the WAVE 3 is plugged in. An EcoFlow Alternator Charger charges it from the vehicle while you drive. The battery accepts up to 1000W in total.

Can I charge it from solar panels?

Yes. The XT60i port accepts 11V to 60V at up to 13A, for a maximum of 400W. Keep the combined open circuit voltage of your panels within 60V and the short circuit current within 13A. An EcoFlow MC4 to XT60i Solar Cable connects MC4 panels to the port. Real-world solar output varies with sun angle, weather and season.

Can it charge while I drive?

Yes. The car charging cable in the box plugs into a 12V or 24V vehicle outlet and delivers up to 200W. Connect it after the engine has started. For faster charging on the road, the EcoFlow 500W Alternator Charger connects to the XT60i port through an XT60 output cable, and the EcoFlow 800W Alternator Charger connects to the XT150 extra battery port through an XT150 output cable.

Can I use the USB ports without the air conditioner?

Yes. The USB ports switch on when the battery is powered on. The USB-C port delivers up to 140W with PD 3.1 and QC 3.0, and the USB-A port delivers up to 18W with QC 3.0. Use a cable that supports the same standard to get the full output.

Is it waterproof?

The battery is rated IP65. EcoFlow still advises against immersing it or leaving it wet, and recommends a waterproof bag in rainy conditions or near water. If it does get wet, stop using it and let us know.

How should I store it between trips?

Keep it somewhere dry, cool and well ventilated. For long-term storage, EcoFlow advises charging it fully and then discharging it to 60% once every 3 months. A battery left uncharged and unused for more than 6 months is not covered by the warranty.

What warranty does it carry?

The WAVE 3 Add-On Battery carries a 2-year warranty in New Zealand. The LFP cells are rated to keep 80% or more of their capacity after 4000 cycles.
